my birthday in beverly hills + making friends

a recap of my birthday weekend in LA …Β

this trip was a bit spur of the moment, and a bit thrown together but I was SO happy to go! Karlee, style and lifestyle blogger of Madam Andrews invited me to come attend a blogging conference with her. it happened that we would end up flying to LA on my birthday and coming home two days later, I was a little sad to leave my family for my birthday weekend because we had some fun things planned and I’ve never left my babies for two days! but I enjoyed myself, we browsed some amazing stores along Rodeo Drive and ate at an exclusive club for dinner! (both of which I didn’t know when I’d get the chance to do again!)Β

as ‘typical’ bloggers we HAD to check out the Beverly Hills hotel and took pictures in front of it, it’s got to be the cutest place right??!! Β I totally understand why my sister is obsessed with palm leaves! they’re DANG cute! and they made theΒ perfect backdrop to our pictures.

my outfit …Β

with Karlee, I had such a great time talking about fashion, motherhood,Β our role as a wife, being involved in our church responsibilities, friendships, blogging, literally EVERYTHING. it’s fun to have friends and find common ground with other women. something I’ve learned is that you don’t need to be 100% the same or even 75% into the same things to appreciate someone. friendships and bonds can happen in the most unlikely places, I love that through blogging I’ve made literally COUNTLESS friendships and connections. I have been able to get to know SO many people through this online space and it makes me so incredibly grateful. it’s amazing when we can be happy for each other and support one another just how much kinder and truly cherished we can feel about our own lives.

it can be so hard to find friends as an adult. I get it. we’re busy. add kids on top of that and it’s dang hard to find time for friends, let alone find people with your same interests. blogging has brought a lot of friendships into my life, but I have also found women in my church and neighborhood that I’ve been able to make connections with and we go do things together. what’s awesome too is that you can have friends for ALL different occasions, you can have your work friends, your party friends, your ‘let’s stay in andΒ watch movies’ friends, your gym friends, your other mommy friends, the list could go on and on … find your ‘thing’ that you like to do with that friend and then do it.

I’ll be honest, I don’t have a ton of besties, because Nash and my girls are who I spend a lot of my time with. I consider my family (my parents, sister, brothers) and my own family unit, my very best friends and they’re who I spend the most time with but I do try to make time to get out of the house and see other people too πŸ˜‰Β

one friend, we run together! (which I’ve been terrible at lately! I’m going to call her and get my bum off the couch soon!)Β

other friends, we go shopping, we do blogging events, we talk hair, makeup, products, etc. it’s so fun to find friends who share a passion!

let me know what you think about friendships and where did you meet some of your closest friends??Β

and if you go to LA or Beverly Hills definitely go see the hotel! have a fabulous week! and I feel like I’mΒ such aΒ traveler lol I never go anywhere but in the past month I’ve been to LA, Canada and now I’m heading to New York tonight!Β

xo, Jensyn
