I’ll be real with you guys, sharing my sugar cookie recipe is a little nerve racking lol .. this is my family recipe and it’s something that I treasure SO MUCH! I can’t tell you ALL my secrets but it’s too good not to share!
they’re literally THE BEST SUGAR COOKIES and I will never love any as much as I love these! my mom’s recipe always turn out PERFECT.
here’s the recipe and instructions …
2 C sugar
2/3 C butter
2 LG eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 C sour cream
5 C sifted flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1.5 tsp salt
.. I like to use a stand mixer (the dough gets thick and tough to stir otherwise)
gradually add sugar to butter. cream thoroughly. add eggs + beat until fluffy. add vanilla and sour cream beating until well mixed.
sift dry ingredients to batter + chill (in fridge for at least a few hours). roll out 1/3″ thick sugar/flour covered surface.
bake @ 350 degrees F for 8-10 min. do not brown!
for frosting we just used a store bought cream cheese icing and dyed it with our own food colorings and added sprinkles, candy eyes and mini m+m’s! I think they turned out darling and Navi had the best time creating them. the bunnies were her favorite!
if you make these delicious sugar cookies – let me know and tag me in any pictures – I’d love to see your creations!
huge shout out to my mom for the recipe and letting me share with you! these cookies have been one of my favorite memories of growing up. especially since we made them during the holidays, I’m wanting to start those traditions with my own daughters!
