loving and raising girls.
describing the love I have for these little ladies is so difficult because it’s just such a HUGE amount. and I know this to be true for most parents, it’s something you can’t quite put into words .. but that love is REAL and it is there. yes, I lose my patience and I’m sure they’ll do things in their lives that upset me or hurt me, but I will always love them and want the best for them.
here is a small list of my hopes and desires for my best friends ..
I want to teach them and be an example to them of kindness and of being a light in this sometimes very dark world.
that they can go for their dreams of being or doing ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that they desire. follow your passions!
that they can be strong, even in difficult times. they are never alone, they have a loving family and a Heavenly Father who cares for them so deeply – they are always LOVED and wanted.
I want them to know that this life is meant to be happy and fun, and that there is good in every day.
I want them to know that beauty isn’t just what’s on the surface of our bodies, it’s not the ‘stuff’ that fills your home or your closet. it’s what’s inside your heart and mind that reveals true beauty. it’s how you treat others and how you care and love.
I want them to know just how amazing they are, with their own personalities, quirks, abilities and differences. it’s okay to not be the same as everyone else. it’s okay to go on your own path and it’s okay to be yourself.
it might be intimidating to stand apart from the crowd or do something nobody has ever done before, but that doesn’t mean it can’t or shouldn’t be done. with good intentions, hard work and never giving up – achieving something that makes you proud and happy is worth it.
I look at them in pure awe and amazement because they teach me everyday to be a better mom, woman, and friend. seeing traits of myself in them encourages me to be the best that I possibly can (or strive for it). I never want them to hurt, and it’s hard as a parent because you know that they will.
they’ll be left out, teased, broken up with, judged, compared and while none of that is fun .. it’s natural in this world. I have had all of these things happen to me and you know what? we make it. we are strong. we learn. we grow. we can love ourselves and the best thing we can do – is to be each other’s biggest and best supporters.
let’s not judge, compare, tease, leave out or be unkind to anyone. even ourselves. how many times have you looked in the mirror and told yourself you’re ‘not as pretty/fit/successful/etc’ to so and so … or compared your abilities to someone else?
you wouldn’t talk to a little girl in such negative ways. so why talk to yourself that way??? there is a little girl inside you – soaking in ALL that she hears about herself. if we build that girl inside UP – think how beautiful our world would be.
the women of this world would have the strength, courage and confidence to be kind, to fulfill her dreams and desires, to challenge herself and grow.
let’s support each other, help in one another’s causes, like their posts, shop from their business, share their successes, build them up when they’re down, cheer for them!
I’m now rambling a bit, but I hope you get my point. let’s all be our best selves, I need to take my own advice and quit comparing myself too. I know I need to be a better example to the girls and women in my life and where I put myself out there online, you’re watching too. I hope you know you’re special, important and worthy of love.
