my goals for 2019

who has exciting things happening in 2019!? this is a busy year for our family and I’m really excited about it. my sister gets home from serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in March, I am due to have our third baby the beginning of May, my youngest brother is graduating high school the end of May and my brother just younger than me is getting married in June!

so really March – June will be the most exciting time of 2019 for us! we don’t have vacations planned, or any BIG changes on the horizon. we’re prepping our home for a new baby and just enjoying the ride of parenthood and life!

get a similar look …

while it’s all busy and fun, I’m really trying this year to simplify and get rid of STUFF. the past week I’ve been deep cleaning SO MUCH. if you follow me on instagram and watch my IG stories then you’ll know I reorganized my office and am actually going to use it AS an office (finally take my computer off my kitchen table after three years!) and I went through my closet. I added so much to my Poshmark account (an app where you can sell clothes/accessories) and it feels so good to have an emptier closet. I know that sounds weird to say … but really!

I was hanging on to so much. so much that I didn’t wear or use. so much that didn’t make me happy. when I’m getting dressed I want to LOVE what I’m wearing and so stuff just had to go. clothes that were once loved, but now they’ll go to new homes and be loved by someone new! that’s the thing though – they’re THINGS. I’m focusing on being more present and I want closer relationships with my family and friends and with God. that’s what I’m working on this year.

I had started reading my Book of Mormon at the beginning of December last year and so I’m continuing this year. I hope to be done soon. I don’t have a set date yet, but I’m reading daily and working at being more spiritual.

I don’t have any major fitness goals, at least not right now. I don’t work out very much and being pregnant it can be risky especially if your body isn’t used to it. so I’ll be taking things slow – mostly walking (as the weather gets warmer) and honestly picking up toys, carrying my kids around and walking throughout my house (stairs all day lol) are what I’ll be doing. I am trying to eat as healthy as I can – but I don’t starve myself or do anything extreme. I try to eat in moderation. so I’m incorporating MORE veggies and fruits into my diet but I also don’t stop myself from eating a treat. I just stop myself from eating ten treats in a day lol. I DO need to drink more water – THAT is a goal that I need to keep better track of! any helpful tips for drinking water??

my ultimate goal is to be happy.

I feel that if I’m trying my best to be the best mom, wife and friend that I can and that if I’m taking care of my body and fueling my spiritual self that I will be happier. I’m trying to de-stress my life by letting go of a lot of “stuff” in my house. I feel when my house is messy, my attitude isn’t good and I get grouchy and compare myself to what I think I’m “supposed” to be.

I don’t have anything majorly specific to “check off” at the end of the year but I feel if I’m striving to be my best, then 2019 will be a great year. I can look back at 2018 and say that I learned A LOT about myself. about who I am and what I like and don’t like. I stand up for myself and stand by my values. I know where I want to be in my career. I know who I want to be as a wife and mother and I know what I need to do to BE that woman I know I can be. I’m not perfect but I know that I can TRY and start over (everyday if needed) and work at being the woman I want to be.

as a recap … here are some of my goals.

1- be more patient and show more love. with my kids, my husband and myself.

2- drink more water. eat healthier.

3- spend my money wisely.

4- take care of myself spiritually. read scriptures and pray daily.

5- clean and declutter. keep only what I LOVE.

6- be present. live in the moment. enjoy my life.

and yes I have more specific goals for my blog and other personal tasks to remember, like ‘taking my vitamins daily’ and ‘do laundry every week’ lol but those aren’t really necessary to share.

I don’t know what goals you’ve set for 2019 but please don’t be so hard on yourself or discouraged if something isn’t what you thought. something I REALLY learned in 2018 was to give myself a break! a break from BEING and DOING everything! somedays I shower, other days I don’t lol it’s a thing. it’s balance. I have come to terms with the fact that I physically can’t do it all. it’s okay to say no. and it’s okay to take time for yourself.

you’ve got this.

happy 2019.

xo, Jensyn
